I was researching on my kissing gouramis the other day and found that on yo utube there was a video of a kissing gourami that is sorta hand tamed and follows the owners hand.
Is there a way of training this?
(not making it scared of you and running away)

Like Black Alyss said, food is the key. If you don't feed them for a day and then start trying the food trick, it will work even faster. Keeping your hand very still the first several times is a good idea as well. Fish aren't the brightest animals on the planet, so don't expect results too quickly. Patience will be required and rewarded. Good luck with it!

I have three kissing gouramis myself and i have found that taking a goldfish and holding it up to the glass outside the tank and putting it face to face with the fish on the first day will work best. Do this for five minutes every few hours. Then, after about two days, begin to move the gold fish, and when the fish follows it, leave and come back in a little bit, soon your kissing gourami will enjoy the challenge. There will be a strong bond between you and your fish. :)

The first several times you put your hand in the tank hold a cube of freeze dried tubifex worms between your fingers, the treat may coax them out of hiding. The fish may begin to associate the treat with your hand, and will become more comfortable with your hand in the tank, and follow it around
... just a thought, it worked for my goldfish...

Honestly all my fish tend to follow my hand around the tank. New fish are shy at 1st. They've been know to sample it on occasion. If I place a finger on the tank they will come over to it. Honestly it all comes down to food, and slow movements. I've trained my fish to come to the surface when I stick a finger in and gently swirl it.
