I'm Jewish and I'm use to the deal when you have some people who will throw small change and see who gets it and then they will make fun of that person and say "What are you Jewish?" I have also had people put a quarter or penny near me and see if I pick it up.

What I am trying to say in this question is... How are we (Jewish people) money lovers. Christians, Protestants, and Cathloics have two holidays (Easter and Christmas) that are represented by mystical creatures who come to your house and leave stuff. I have two complaints about this. One how is this realated to the holiday. And two, these creatures where created for marketing, to make money. Jews have no creatures that come to houses leaving things. We like our holidays like they have been for 2,000 years. We do not create creatures to make money.

I'm not complaining or trying to say Cristians, Protestants, and Cathloics are the money lovers but, that we all have our take in money.

You mix two things that have nothing to do with each other, one the giving of gifts and a mystical person/animal that gives the gift, and the second is the stereotype of Jews.

Every faith, religion, and culture have their own customs and traditions for gift giving and celebration, and they have nothing to do with money.

Right, wrong, or indifferent Jews have been in the midst of controlling money as far back as the bible and old testament go. Even today in New York as well as other places, Jews are the predominant source for money, diamonds and financial transactions. There have been many jokes around Jews and money. As they say, where there is smoke there is fire. There is enough being said that there has to be some truth in it. The idea that Jews are good with money is more culturaln nature and has nothing to do with religion at all.

You know the ironic thing about the money-grubbing Jew stereotype? Christians forced it on Jews! There was a point in history when Christians were not allowed (based on their religion) to be moneylenders due to the interest charged. It was considered to be a sinful practice. So, naturally, this career fell to the Jews. Of course, no moneylender is perceived as positive when interest must necessarily accrue on the loan.

Interesting how Christian belief forced the Jews into a negatively-viewed career, and this stereotype has been used for ages to vilify Jews. Sad more than interesting, but still interesting.

I don't get it either, here's another one that baffles me, why do people refer to something a bit backward or odd as being Irish? It makes the Irish sound thick!
