A smile costs nothing, but gives a lot.

It enriches those who receive it without making poorer those who give it.

A smile takes only a moment, but the memory of it can last forever.

No one is so rich, or so mighty, that they can get a long without a smile.

And no one is so poor that they cannot be made richer by a smile.

A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business and is the

counter sign of friendship.

A smile brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the

sad and is nature's best cure for trouble

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen
for it is of no value to anyone until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give a smile so give them one of yours as no one needs a smile so much as he who has no more of his own to give.

I try to smile at people, but when they give me a snotty or angry look back it really brings me down....like they're thinking "how dare she be smiling and happy, she has no right to be". But yes, I agree, everyone should smile more! Even if you're feeling bad, don't take it out on someone who has nothing to do with your bad mood.

A smile changes your bodily chemistry and makes you feel great, keeps you looking healthier and younger. It also makes everyone around you feel great. Smiles are contagious, and frowns have the opposite effect. Smile more, spread joy! Nothing is worth giving up your smile. People want to be around you when you are smiling, and rn from you when you are miserable and it always shows on the face!

Even when depressed, if you fake a smile, in time you feel better, as it changes your chemistry. Even when I have been depressed, if I did not try to analyse another's intention, for a moment, I felt a bit better. if you analyse everyone's intention when depressed you'll feel upset that you do not feel as good as they do. I'm not saying it's easy, or that you should repress what you feel. You need to accept the depression and let it run it's course, see why you feel it, and deal with it. At the same time, getting upset at people who smile at you, only hurts you. Find out why that upsets you when it happens. Usually, it's just a sort of jealousy that in the moment you feel crappy. Many people who suffer from depression fight it and try to get out of it right away instead of looking at what happened that might have casued the depression, it can be real stressful situations, or chemical imbalances, either way, it needs to be dealt with, not ignored. Smiles are not the problem, the depression is.

If this happened to me I would feel librated in spirit. I would feel as if life smiled on me in its kindness. In one smile I would see many possibilities of good things happening to me. I would see hope and acceptance of a human heart through a little bright window in human soul. I would be more certain that all my sins can be forgiven, and all the harms that I have caused world have not left me bereft of human qualities and ability to do more good in response.

Often when I find myself in the gentle glow of someone smiling on me, I feel difficult to handle generosity in kindness. However, I always smile back, often quite naturally, but sometimes when I feel overwhelmed and when I do not find myself worthy, I remind myself of the fact that nothing is devoid of goodness and we all deserve kindness; we all need to celebrate what is good in us despite the fact that we have our weaknesses as well. I often try to assure myself that I deserve good things however I might not understand exactly why.

I always like to pass on a smile unto other people myself. And often I notice that either I smile most reservedly with my lips tightly closed, or that I smile just reflexively as a social habit. I feel it takes real goodness inside a person to make them smile from the heart, and when this happen just a simple smile can heal wounds inflicted years ago.

Very nice; and have you noticed how much more attractive a person looks when they smile. Beats any makeup.

depends on the smile I suppose, if its a gentle, small smile it's nice but if someone's grinning at you like a Cheshire cat you get a bit paranoid
