is there anybody who has read the story of the stone by David Hawkes and a dream of the red mansions . the two book are concerned with a chinese classic novel named Hongloumeng.and which one do you think is the best rendition to its source text. thanks a lot

Alas, this is way to obscure for me and probably for most others in here. I do wish you success in figuring it out.

The whole issue of translations is always interesting because no one translates the same text in exactly the same way.
