Rachel decides she wants to work from spring break (16th-21st) to august 31st. The minimum wage is $7.50, but increases to $8.25 in October. The thing is when schools back in she works for 3 hours and when schools out (which is weekends and holidays) she works for 6 hours.
How much will she make by the end of August (31st)?
"The end of the school year for her is June 25th"

I would answer it, only it's not interesting so I think I'll just refrain from answering.

Question doesnt make sense. Spring Break (16th-21st) is in what month? The increase in October has no bearing on the question at all. When you say she works 3 hrs and 6 hours - is that per day? When are the holidays?
I will assume the hours are per day and the holidays are only national holidays....and try to answer.
Lets say spring break is April 16th-20th. If she works that week it is 6 hours a day(30hrs)) Then there are all of the week-ends and holidays until June 25th (21 days x 6 hrs per day =126hrs.) We will add the 30 spring break hours to the 126 and have 156 hours. NOW - The number of school days she works from after spring break until the end of school June 25th is 45 days. 45 days x 3hrs per day is 135 hours. We will add 135 hrs to the previous 126 hours and now have 261 hours. FINALLY - From end of school - June 26 to Aug 31st there are 66 days NOT including the 4th of July holiday. 66x6 hrs a day would be 396. We will add the 261 hours to 396 and she worked 657 hours. 657 hours x $7.50= $4,927.50 net (before taxes) that she made during that time period. Hope that all makes sense and helps!
