Anand has recently been rated as No. 1 in FIDE rating. This is significant as he is the 5th person in the world to get this honor (Fisher, Karpov, Kasparov, Topolov are other four) since 1968, since FIDE ratings started). Anand has been the top 3 FIDE rated player for the last 15 years. Such consistency has not been given by any other sports-person in the world !
While the media is flooded with headline/frontpage news on Indian cricket's worst performance in cricket, chappel / players/ BCCI, we have completely ignored the significant achievement of our greatest sports pride "Anand". Should we not forget cricket (national disgrace) for the time being and rejoice in Anand's success ! Cheers !

Vishwanathan Anand is an indian and no doubt he has been issued an Indian passport Legally a person can not have citizenship of two countries A good news he has finally received the Doctorate from the President of India

You are absolutely right. We should stop mourning over the disgraceful Indian Cricket team, who incidentally happen to be the most highly paid sports team in the world and hope they do better next time. Meanwhile, we should encourage others who win.

Enough is enough!!We've spent enough days praying for the Indian cricket team and what did we get in return?Anand has been ignored for so many yrs and yet he has made it to the top.Its one of the gr8test achievements of indian sport.Yet the sad fact remains that th media doesnt care a bit for that great man.And what not-It ws the lack of facilities that forced him to move to Spain.So I think its high time we root for a true sportsman and not a bunch of duffers.

YES IT IS A PITY THAT WE ARE NOT CELEBRATING ANAND'S TOP RATING IN CHESS. THE SPANISH PEOPLE KNEW ANAND MORE THAN WHAT INDIANS KNOW. I AM VERY PROUD THAT MY COUNTRYMEN IS IN THE TOP OF CHESS.
