My neice used my computer and now the bar across the bottom is missing and the toolbars across the top are all wrong. I tried the customize button and reset but it didn't change. Anyone else have any ideas.

#1 - Don't let your neice use the computer again.

#2 - Prehaps your taskbar is in the auto-hide mode. Try moving the mouse pointer all the way to the very bottom of the screen, if it pops up, it's an easy fix.

Right-click on the taskbar> choose properties> uncheck the hide option> click OK

Try pressing the Windows key on the keyboard. This should get your START menu to pop up.

If the taskbar has been relocated to another edge of the screen, click & drag it back to the bottom.

another thought - check the monitor's alignment settings. Maybe the bar is there, but it's just off the screen.

I'm not sure about a bar across the top of the srceen.

I've had similar issues before with both the desktop and inside MS Internet Explorer.

Since you said "bar across the bottom" I'm going to assume that your referring to the Windows Desktop and that you're not seeing the "Start" button nor the bar that normally appears across the bottom of your desktop.

If this is indeed the issue try moving your mouse down to the bottom of the screen. The bar will likely pop-up from it's "hidden" state.

To turn off this feature, while you still can see the bar, use your righthand mouse button and click in the middle of the bar (away from the "Start" button in the solid color area). You should see a menu pop-up with some choices. At the bottom of this menu will be the "Properties" item, hover over it with the mouse to highlight it and then select it by clicking on it while it's still highlighted.

This should pop open the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" window box. Simply uncheck the checkmark in the little square checkbox by mouse clicking in the box next to the item named "Auto-hide the taskbar" and then click on the "Ok" box at the bottom of the window to accept your change and close down the window.

The taskbar should now stay visible at all times for you.

I can probably help you with the "toolbars across the top are all wrong part", but I need more information, like what software are you trying to use when you see that the toolbars aren't what or where you expected them to be?

If you have any tool bars left go to where they were and right click and if you see them listed just click and a check will appear and your tool bar or bars will appear.
