So long as the consequences are not life-threatening (e.g., do not approach someone wielding a knife), then overcoming the fear would certainly be growth enhancing. Every time you do something outside of your comfort zone, you expand your comfort zone--if you've done it before, it is a little less scare the next time, and so forth.
Continuing to challenge oneself and forcing oneself to work outside a comfort zone is what true artists do all the time.

When you are facing fear, you are experiencing the source of our morality.
From day 1 to the present, in all societies, you will find that fear is the force behind all actions that we take. We may mask it by doing the same action over and over again. Also, in some cases, we let fear progress to a point that we do not recognize it as fear and call it love.

I think so. Good job every time you take a step outside your comfort zone! Keep it up but don't push yourself to the point that your fear becomes too much to handle.

No. When feeling fear is displaced by trust, faith, strength, and understanding, then progress is being made, and you find yourself in a perpetual comfort zone regardless of external conditions. To throw yourself in the lion's den while you fear the lions is not progress.
