It is about 75% the same, but not exactly. As always, a movie has to cut out part of what is in a book, otherwise the movie would be way too long and awful. A good example of that is "The Great Gatsby", an okay book but an awful movie. So, there's no way around it, you've got to read the book, but it is fairly interesting and it deals with some real issues in presidential politics and with Nixon.
