Why dont you clean out your children's closets and offer some clothes to kids in the school who may need some. You can call it a clothes swap or free for anyone who needs them. You can also collect cans and donate them to families that may need food.

What children want more than anything is attention. So if you listen to them read, just give them time, everyone, adults are in such hurries today the kids are usually not getting the one on one time with adults they need.

What if you went to a food pantry and put together something for those students? Or maybe your local church has something? It doesn't have to be something that you buy yourself. But you also have to be careful. If you give them something materialistic...whose to say that once they bring it home, their parents might take it for themselves? People can be greedy.
