Philippine electoral system is hounded by turncoatism wherein politicians change parties to serve their interests.

The main political groups are the Team Unity and Genuine Opposition. Team Unity is composed of Lakas-CMD, KAMPI, Nationalist People's Coalition and other groups favoring the administration of current President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo while Genuine Opposition is composed the Partido Masa ng Pilipinas and other splinter groups allied with former President Joseph Estrada.

The politicians are controlled not by the parties but by their personal interests. There are a lot of bickerings to get the attention of the people.

Corruption is widespread whoever wins in the election. New politicians are the prospects to change Philippine politics.
