What do you think about having American Idol change the rules.
Starting next year have all 12 contestants sing for all 12 weeks...This would give them all a chance to show all different singing talents...

America would still vote every week...votes would be kept confidential as usual...then at the end of 12 weeks the winner would be annouced....

This would be less emotional for contestants from week to week...This way no contestant will no how they are doing and america will not be able judge them on how america is voting..becausing none of us will no....What do you all think?

I don't think it's a great idea. People want to see contestants get voted off, and in the case of Sanjaya, most people with actual ears don't want to hear the kid sing for 12 weeks.

The way they vote contestants off now needs to be updated, but not fully changed. If you went with the 12 weeks, you would have a rush of votes but wouldn't have a cut off. For them to keep track of that many votes for each contestant would be a pain, and probably wouldn't work out.

There's also the drama factor. All these reality shows need some drama added, and each week someone is voted off and fufills that drama. If you just put them all up there at the end of 12 weeks, and denied 11 of them, that wouldn't be very dramatic.

As well, fitting 12 songs onto an hour portion would not work. It would take around 2 hours per show, and there would only be one show a week. For 12 weeks you would just hear people singing, without anyone leaving. That won't work. They are making way more money making a 1 hour show, and a half hour vote off show. This keeps the ratings up, and keeps people from watching other programs on other stations.

Not a bad idea.... I would like the chance to hear the top twelve sing different types of music. I'm sure there would be those that still would shine above the rest, but it would give those that have a certain style to show their stuff.
As far as the emotional part... I agree, less emotional every week might help all of them, if they were concentrating on their music and less on whether or not they were being dumped this week might help...
I still feel there would still be the same "personality contest" but at least the good singers would have more exposure and a better chance at a career.

I think they should do it like So You Think You Can Dance (the first few weeks) and Rockstar. They have people vote and then the people who were in the bottom three get judged by the judges. Then the judges vote off who they want from the bottom three. That way people still get a say but the judges can stop what is happening this year from happening again. Sanjaya has been in the bottom 3 before, just not in the last few weeks.

That's deffinatley an interesting idea. However, I think people would change their minds as the show progressed. Therefore, the winner wouldn't be an accurate representation of what the people want.
However, maybe they should try it out for one season and see how it goes. It's deffinatley interesting...

I think new rules are in order too.

Only how about voting for the person you want to see go. Sanjaya would have been long gone.

I like it the way it is. Your way wouldn't be exciting - just full of speculation about who'll win.
