"What good fortune for those in power that the people do not think."

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."

Dwight Eisenhower (General & Republican president)

I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity.

Why does any politician act like they know anything about war? After all they are sending others out to die for them. As an African/Native American I feel more than ever this country has only fought 3 worth while wars in my opinion(The Civil war, WWI, and WWII) I mean back in the day leaders where once expected to be the first on the front lines to even be considered semi respectable authority on war.

Liberals usually act on emotion, not think about logic. They listen to the sources of media that skew headlines to sell papers. They form their own opinions based on hearsay and not hard fact (editorials and opinions are what most Anti-War liberals site as sources). I regret people are dying for us over there, and we do little but bicker about it here at home.
Fact: Our people are dying over in Iraq and Afghanistan. Fact: We found weapons and supplies for WMD production. Fact: Sadam was a tyrant and threaded us and his neighbors multiple times. Fact: The generals in charge of the Iraq confrontation did not have an exit strategy. Fact: We cannot force democracy on a country that doesn’t believe in it. Fact: We should come home, but when it will be safe and prudent and not cause mass bloodshed.
Fact: More people die in this country from motor vehicle accidents in 1 month (NHTA 2004 Persons Killed divided by 12 to average 3553 deaths a month – 2004 - projected to rise 1.3% in ‘05, ‘06 not yet available) than service members died in any military conflict in the last 4 years (March 02 – March 07: total of 3247 US military deaths).

This is like comparing book smarts to street smarts. Something might seem like a good idea written down, but you have to know through experience if it's really a good idea or not.

What's the difference between liberals and conservatives when it comes to war? They're (we're) all humans aren't we? And humans are the only creatures on earth that kill each other for so little reason. Oh yes, we all know about war - it's human nature - and ain't it a shame.

Geez maybe because our presidents usually win the damn things when in power not always but our track record is far better there ye of little facts

Hey Gottlos if you're going to quote a poll quote it in context

The American military — once a staunch supporter of President Bush and the Iraq war — has grown in creasingly pessimistic about chances for victory.

For the first time, more troops disapprove of the president’s han dling of the war than approve of it. Barely one-third of service members approve of the way the president is handling the war, ac cording to the 2006 Military Times Poll.

Because Liberals know that they have no chance of winning elections (their only goal) based on the idea that they're philosophy would be better for the American people (because when it comes down to it there's nothing to substantiate that) they have to rely on creating the appearance of improprioty or mismanagment by conservatives.

Espousing one particular political view or the other does not automatically convey either great knowledge or total ignorance on the poster. In other words, not all liberals are morons and not all conservatives are saints. Get over it. Why can't you take people as they are, individuals, and talk about issues instead of this constant attack mode from the cons on the libs?
