I bought the house and the neighbor had the spare keys. I go to get them and she asked if i had dogs. Which i toldc her 2 miniture schnauzers. She said hers {pitbulls} would kill my dogs and are very agressive towards other animals. They have ripped apart possums and killed a doberman that came in her yard. She just kept saying it would be irresponsible not to tell you. The yard has a 5 foot chainlink fence anmd iod below my yard so i spent 10 grand on a board on board 6 foot wood fence and had it built inside the chainlink fence i asked her to go in on a fence and she said she had no money. So i left the chainlink. so trhey have to go through a 5 foot chainlin k and then a 6 foot wood fence.Do you think my dogs are safe now?????

They could use the chain link to climb and then go over the wood fence.------I don't know where you live but in Mich. if an animal comes in your yard and poses a threat to human or animal you have the right to kill it. So I would inform your neighbor that you have a 357 and it will kill pit bulls and it would be irresponsible not to tell her.

Dave...I once lived on a block where some neighbors had a German Shepherd that routinely climbed a 6 foot chain link fence....it was an amazing sight...but I have no idea about pitbulls climbing ability.

One thing does come to mind.....I know many breeds love to dig, (you see where this is going already, huh)...and some pitbulls are just plain crazy, so I wouldn't put it past them to dig under the fence to get to your dogs.

It sounds like your neighbor has no control over her dogs and that you and the animal control people will be on a first name basis soon.

Good luck!

I doubt very seriously that the dogs can jump over the fence. It is possibility though that they will chew through the fence. This is especially true if it is a old fence so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Every so often though you might want to keep an eye out along the bottom of the fence to see if the dogs are tearing a hole through it.

They will get out sometime. If the dog has killed other dogs it should be put down. If she has your spare keys, change your lock. It is tough to be good neighbors with someone who owns pit bulls. Is she trying to intimidate you so you don't see how many she is raising? Your neighbor needs a license if she is breeding and selling puppies.Good luck, bad situation, no wonder the house was up for sale.

I don't have a clue . You mentioned opossums do live in the south ?. I live on the Okla. Ark. border a lot of towns have band pit bulls and require old owners to obtain insurance and secure the dogs in cages check with your town ordnance or animal control . But keep in mind that you may Pi** your neighbor off . But they (the dogs)may come after you or any child or your pets ! good luck and God Bless

If her dog has killed that many animals, they're not to be trusted. Call your local ordinance officer and see what your rights are. Make sure you report if she doesn't provide them with shelter when it rains/snows. Make sure you report her if the dogs are without clean water and food. If there's any sign that they're trying to encroach on your property, report them as aggressors.

Your dogs are not meals for her pits. If she can't control her dogs, and that's quite apparent, then they shouldn't be in your neighborhood. Pits are very sneaky and they could be in your yard without warning. Suggest to her that if she doesn't ensure your dogs' safety in their own yard, you'd be glad to help her make alternative arrangements for them...but allowing them to keep you sleepless isn't an acceptable alternative.

Maybe she just doesn't like you and thinks that if she tells you that story you will move!

She is responsible for controlling her dogs. Tell her if those dogs harm yours, you are going to press charges and have her dogs put to sleep. Most judges today have no mercy on pitbull owners.

Looks like you built quite the barrier there. Im sure youre dogs are fine, but just keep a close eye on them when they are roaming in the backyard or something. You can never tell with those pitbulls, they are so ferocious.

well no, Dogs are as aggressive as the owner trains them.
This owner is not a responsible person, or she would not have make the KILL statement to you.
Most Cities and Towns outlaw pit bull types so go terrorize the town before you jump in with both barrels

If the chainlink is on their side they can grip that and dive over your's. They can easily scale it if they want to.
