I have fabric, i have a sewing machine and etc. But what I don't have is a cutting board, a clear cutting ruler and etc. Is there anyway I can make curtains without having the proper tools to measure the fabric out? I want to make sure they are straight, but don't want to go out and purchase the proper equipment. Any ideas?

I have used the floor to cut curtains. To start with a square end, pull a thread through the fabric from one side to the other near the top of your fabric. That will usually give you a straight line to begin your measurements from. Mark the back side of the fabric on both sides when you measure it and fold the fabric over itself and use the selvage as your straight cutting edge. This has worked for me many times.

In addition to what Hear to Help said, you could use just about any flat surface, as long as it's clean. Such as your kitchen table, or maybe even an ironing board.
