Sammy Sosa? He never got caught nor admitted it.
Mark McGwire? Was busted in Canseco's book and refused to comment
Rafael Palmeiro? Who lied and got caught later. See what happens when you mix viagra with steriods. Side effects are lying to Congress.

They don't have a legit reason to keep Sosa out.

No, No, and No! Sammy dropped off the face of the earth once the steroid issue got too hot to handle. Now he's trying to back door his way into the majors again. Cheater number one! McGwire doesn't want to talk about the past only about the positive future. Of course he doesn't want to talk about the "juicy" past. He would have to talk about all those chemically enhanced home runs he hit. Cheater number two. Palmeiro never played a meaningful game in his life. His teams were never in any pennant races so he never had any big time pressure to deal with. He flew under the steroid radar for his entire career and just when he thought he could get away with it and end up in the hall of fame, HE GOT CAUGHT!! Cheater number three.

They have all lied to Congress and should be held in contempt. By the way, Barry Bonds is Cheater number four!

mark McGuire and Sammy Sosa together saved baseball in 98. Both were only power hitters, although mark stole 1 golden glove. I think with them not being caught red handed, gives them a 3 year ( holdout of voters) suspension so to speak. Palmero on the other hand was a great player, avg, rbi. good fielder, but he got caught, he lied and that is not the character that gets in the elite group. When big mac tested positive for andro, it was not illegal at the time. He did not lie to congress. Canseco used to be my favorite player now he is a has been who never was.

No, No, and No. Perception is believed to be reality when dealing with Baseball & steriods. Sammy was asked by a S.I. reporter to take a test and he said "No, would you like me to get into trouble" then he reluctantly shook his head saying no at the congressional hearings when asked if he took steriods, but didn't speak because there was a microphone in his face. Then after having a horrible year in Baltimore, he sat a year out of baseball saying he needed to get his mind "and body" right.

Perception is reality.

We know the deal with McGuire. People have to understand that writers vote these guys in the Hall, not other players, or fans. And they will send a message to McGuire that this won't be tolerated, numbers aside. He'll get in but not as a 1st ballot inductee. Personally I think he retired hoping that he would be inducted before this steriod mess came to this conclusion.

Palmeiro is done. He wont get in.

Mark McGwire was CAUGHT with a THEN LEGAL Performance enhancing drug. He then told Congress I'm not here to talk about the past, in what was his last appearence and what he will be remembered for. Palmerio has NO CHANCE. Beyond the baseball covering it up so he could get the hits and that, when it did FINALLY come out he blamed his teammate. That just further killed him. As to Sosa I don't think he will get in. He has the best chance but I don't think he belongs in and I don't think he will.

McGwire never admitted it. He took andro when it was legal. Hell, steroids were not illegal in baseball until the last collective bargaining agreement. So even if Caminitti and McGwire and Canseco and others took it, it was perfectly legal.

I think McGwire deserves a hall induction. The same writers that are keeping him out were the same ones that proclaimed him as being so great, and said he saved baseball with his and Sammy's summer of '98.

I think the hall should not be determined by writers but by concensus of a committee of baseball.

I think McGuire and Sosa have a chance at getting in. Mark has a better chance than Sammy but I think both may get in. LIke you said Rafael Palmeiro lied to congress so I doubt he'll ever make it.

mcgwire - yes in 2 or 3 years
sosa - yes, never had a positive test. if he did use roids it was when baseball had no rule against using roids, therefore never breaking a rule.
raffy - no. positive test after baseball instituted the steroid rule. but 500 homers and 3000 hits, it's a shame.
