Same place I found it. It's all around you and within you... all at the same time. All you have to do is seek it out and live it. This book will tell you exactly how to do that: http://www.seekwellness.com/bookstore/books/book65.htm
I was in deep, dark depression for nearly five years. I did what the doctors told me, took their drugs, got worse, and finally tried to end it all. I ended up in a mental hospital. That's when a friend gave me that book. It turned my life around in a matter of weeks. Now I'm ♥Peachy♥™

A survey was done, I can't remember exactly where, but I wrote down the factors which the happiest people typically had in common.
Happiness factors:
Optimistic -
have a view of life that says, things tend to work out, rather than a victim mindset, that says they don't.
Savour Life -
they "stop to smell the roses" and enjoy a meal, or time with a friend, or a good walk.
Spirituality -
have some idea of the deeper thoughts in life -- not necessarily a "religion" though that doesn't hurt!
Goals -
Have something to work toward, however small or large.
Friends & Family -
Know how to make friends and how to connect with people.
Thankful -
don't take things for granted and remember the little things to be grateful for.
Forgiving -
grudges are joy-suckers and just weigh you down.
Meaningful Work -
what you do 40 or more hours a week is bound to have an effect. Even a janitor can find his life meaningful if he takes on the bigger perspective.

People always tend to think happiness is something they can achieve. I think the real meaning of happiness is overlooked. When you wake up in the morning and there is blossom on the trees and the sun is shining and you feel great, or if you open your sock drawer and immediately find a matching pair, or you go to work and your boss praises you for something you have done, or your kids spontanously announce that they love you. Those simple actions make you feel happy. Each day in your life there is a certain amount of "happiness". Its not a goal you can achieve, its just there in simple things. We spend all our lives chasing the dream of "true happiness", but life is never going to be plain sailing, and problems, heartache and stress will always be present no matter what stage you are in your life. If something makes you smile, lifts your mood, makes you laugh till you cry, that is happiness. Not a thing to possess, but moments to cherish.

Strive to make the most of your God given talents and abilities. Strive to make the most of what you have to work with. If you believe that you have talent and above-average ability in something you enjoy doing, for instance, a hobby such as painting beautiful watercolors, or singing, or playing a musical instrument, or writing, apply yourself to developing your unique talent and see where it leads you. Don't be discouraged by the opinions of others. Believe in yourself and be tenacious in developing your talent. This, I believe, will lead to greater inner happiness, rather than squandering your abilities, aptitudes, intelligence. That doesn't mean your not going to have setbacks and disappointments along the way. Find a constructive endeavor that you enjoy and that makes you feel good about yourself.

Happiness comes when you balance your desires with your ability to achieve them.
You either work your butt off to get rich and buy all that will make you happy or modify your thinking and start finding the joys and values in things that are already or more easily available to you.
If you spend your life trying to let external or material things determine your happiness, you will never be truly happy.
Happiness is the result of internal satisfaction

James, you have asked a question that can only be defined/answered by you. I deal with great depression right now, Im slowly coming out of it. I wish I could even remotely give you a starting foundation for happiness, it usually starts within yourself. I at times keep a journal or write a letter to whomever hurt me, granted I dont send it but its therapuetic, i read, i research, itry to sleep but I find a little faith thats is still in me to be resilient and persevere, you will be okay, God Bless

You can only find true happiness in yourself. If you think that you can find it in other things, then it will be a great disappointment when that short term happiness runs out.

happiness exists right now in this very instant, it doesnt exist in the future or the past because neither of these ideas actually exist they are either predictions or recollections both of which are dramatically flawed and not verifiably true. Strive to make this instant the best it can be its truely all you have.

Imagine, what is the very WORST thing that could happen to you, your family, your friends,
Then ask yourself, has it happened?
No, well cheer up, and enjoy life for what it is, or it will have passed you by before you have realised that you was happy, but had not appreciated the fact.
Stop the world and get off occassionally, and reflect!!!

Take a left, then a right, then another left, whoa, watch out for that lamp post! Ok, then right at the next street. It has a flashing neon sign that says, "Happiness", and they have the best shrimp fried rice and sweet and sour chicken!
