It doesn't take points or give points. You shouldn't give a star unless you feel it is a good question. That's the whole point behind the stars.

No, the stars don't effect your points, at least not yet. They're a relatively new addition.
Rating answers with a thumbs up or thumbs down won't effect your points either.
If however you get thumbs up on an answer you posted that is selected as best answer, you get one point for each thumbs up, up to 50.

No, the thumbs give points to the person with the best answer, the star lets others in your contacts know you answered the question.
no other effect.

Yeah, I nonetheless could. I see it this way, I answer peoples questions so as that when I also have a query that i certainly desire an answer to, i'm able to anticipate that folk will attempt to respond to me.

I certainly hope not! That doesn't seem fair. Although sometimes I get weird things when I sign on that says 'whoa you've earned 33 points!' .....don't get the 3 point part..hmmm
