Of course we should! A great many people are indeed truly seeking asylum as humans, we should never turn our backs on those in need of genuine protection.

Contrary to what is commonly known as uneducated gossip, the influx of migrants we currently have is boosting the economy considerably.

Asylum seekers coming to the UK are not allowed to work until they have a permit, this can go into years and yet people say 'they're taking our money'. The grumblers need to lobby parliament and have it changed, homeless, destitute and hungry and in a strange country - how would you survive?

If we allowed no one into the country, then perhaps we should stop the 300000 or so Brits who leave the country every year to go live elsewhere.

A great many people also complain about the number of 1st/2nd generation migrants who came here to work in mainly the textile industry, what these people forget is that we INVITED them here, again to boost the economy.

Also consider the likes of the NHS and other public services, not long ago we were inviting nurses from the Philippines and other places to come work here as we simply didn't have the qualified staff. Perhaps the grumblers should refuse medical treatment too.

UK taxation etc etc, the list of benefits is endless.

The true problem in society is today's youth and the general lack of morality in society (not all). Standards are slipping and the social problems we have internally need be dealt with quite harshly as we are falling into a 'too politically correct' trap.

Because I live in SE Michigan (USA), where there is a plethora of Yemenis, Iraqis, Lebanese, Pakistanis and Bangladeshi, I might suggest that every country be selective in allowing immigrants to come and live in their country. What do the immigrants have to offer? Will they assimilate? These are questions that should be answered.

The US is having to deal with Illegals everyday. I would say yes only if they become legal citizens. Either that or get ready for illegals to take over. Parts of the US are so overrun with them it's like a silent invasion!!

If they are LEGAL immigrants then yes.

If they are ILLEGAL, then no. You didn't distinguish between the two very different connotations.
