u mean a quadrilateral ?? if thought
This article is about the geometric shape. For other uses, see Quadrilateral (disambiguation).
In geometry, a quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides and four vertices. Sometimes, the term quadrangle is used, for etymological symmetry with triangle, and sometimes tetragon for consistence with pentagon.

When you say it has 4 sides ... are you perhaps talking about a triangular pyramid as it has 4 faces. It has a triangle for the base and then 3 triangular sides?? Could you be looking for the surface area of that figure? If so, and all faces are congruent (the same) then the figure is a 'regular triangular pyramid'.

The formula for finding the surface area is:
Surface Area = [Base Area] +
1/2 × Perimeter × [Side Length]

If you happen to know the length and the height then it is
4(1/2 b*h)

By definition, a triangle has only three sides. Consequently, computation of the area of a non-exsistent figure is not possible.

BTW, this answer also applies to 5-sided quadrilaterals,
10-sided pentagons, and square circles.

Do you mean a 3D shaped pyramid looking structure with 4 sides of triangles?
Add the area of each of four triangles, each dimention should be given in a question.
If triangles are equal in shape, just B*H/2*4=B*H*2(B=base,H=height)

By definition, a triangle has 3 sides.
If you have four sides, you'll have 4 angles, not a triangle.

if a figure has 4 sides and is not a square it is classified as a quadrilateral. You need to be more specific.
