... it is still a little chilly at night, so I move them to a warmer place until the morning, when I move them back into the window area.

What I am wondering is: what temperature range makes them happiest? They are just ordinary plants - nothing exotic.

During the day, there is little problem because of the heating and the sunshine, but at night it is a little cold, I think.

Please?

Ta!

No too much work. I place them next to a window that is insulated or in the inner part of the room where they can get the right amount of light and leave them alone.

We go away ours open for all time (in warmth climate for sure). we are meant to get more advantageous snow day after today so beginning something isn't a lot of an selection now. almost all domicile windows mfg. because the 1970's have "stops" outfitted into them that allow you to open your domicile windows somewhat--and limit them from beginning on the exterior. verify yours to be sure in the journey that they have that selection. The stops are on the element that would not slide. Or, in case you could continuously make your human being via placing a screw or nail contained in the body so the window will end even as that's in simple terms open some inches. except you stay contained in the interior city or a ghetto, i does no longer be too worried with a assassin coming in to kill you. the vast majority of folk who're murdered are victims of someone they know. the share killed via strangers is truly small small. verify on-line on your city/county website for the fairly crime fee round you. Get the genuine information. There are really sufficient issues that are justified to agonize about, no experience hectic unnecessarily. life's too short.

I do not move my plants winter or summer that sit in windows unless affected by the amount of sunlight.(not enough) I pull down the blinds if too much. I have a few that have to be moved for more light in the winter. Nothing has been affected so far. Have had house plants like; Spider plant, African violets, Christmas cactus, ordinary succulent plants and cacti.

You're giving yourself quite a workout moving all the plants daily. I would just be sure it is not too cold-belor 50 degrees farenheight at night, use a thermometer. Check to be sure there is not a heat source directly near the plants-radiator or vents.

If you are concerned at night, you could cover plants is possible with a light fabric to keep warmth in soil and uncover in daytime. Plants can be remarkably resilient but any succulents/fleshy plants because of amount of water in leaves can be more temperamental to temperature fllutuations. What exactly are your house plant varieties?

I have orchids in an east window,so it gets cooler at night. Everyone told me to keep them warm, but they wouldn't bloom until I left them there. Now my orchids look fabulous and bloom 6-8 months of the year!
If the temp doesn't drop more than 10 gegrees, I would leave the plants in the window.

Plants left on a windowsill will be affected by the outside temperature, closing your curtains at night (even with double glazing) causes the temperature to drop between them, hard to believe but true. The sudden drop in temperature can effect them quite dramatically.

Some plants, such as Christmas Cactus, don't like being moved at all when they're in bud so have to be left in the same place. My Christmas Cactus had about 20 flowers on it before Christmas and is flowering again now, though with less buds

It is cold here in South Dakota. My daughter got me some ChiaPet Herb planters. I planted them on Christmas Day. I was putting them in the window every day and on the floor every night until February. Now, I leave them on the window sill, and they do just fine at night. Most plants do just fine down to 32 degrees without any problems at all. If it gets colder, they will surely die. 34 degrees is okay; 31 degrees will kill them. That's why we plant gardens in the summertime.

No, I don't move the plants at night. Even though our temperatures get below zero at times, they haven't been bothered. Do make sure they aren't touching the window.
