It depends on where you work. Can you report it to his superior? Do you have a union? If you don't have any recourse, find another job. No one needs to put up with that.

If you have a human resources department (larger companies) - then meet with your HR representative and tell them about the problem - ask them about being transferred to another division. They will address the behavior with your bosses boss - which usually gets results. The drawback is if you stay with that boss they will know you reported them. Next thing you know, you're getting in trouble for everything, and your reviews and bonuses take a nose dive.

If you work for a small company - look for another job immediately! Don't wait until you get so fed up and upset that you start yelling back. You could end up getting fired or you may even quit without notice. This would be damaging to your career.

Also, when your boss starts his tirade excuse yourself if you can (say you have to go to the bathroom). When you come back he will probably leave you alone.

Whatever you do find another job. No one deserves to be yelled at and berated all day long. I don't care what the pay is - it can't be enough!

Tell him you don't feel he's contributing to a safe work environment and you feel threatened when he yells at you. Also put it in writing and make a copy. Then, tell his superiors the same thing in writing and make a copy (assuming he has any). Also, bring a tape recorder with you to work and record it a few times, just in case. That way, at least you have a case built for human resources, that is what they need. If you don't work in that kind of environment, then you can threaten to quit if he continues to yell at you. He probably won't care. So quit. But most importantly, before you quit, embarrass him badly. Piss in his coffee or post posters of him all over the place, with some kinda joke caption or something to get him back!

Are you the only employee that he displays this temper with? Obviously he keeps you on, so you must be doing your job. Otherwise he would have fired you. Have you tried to have a talk with him? Ask him what you can do to make him stop this behavior. Perhaps you remind him of an ex-wife. LOL

Breath deeply, look at his eyes.
Some time after talk to him. If there's still a little humanity in him might work. But talk him alone, after diner, because that's when beasts are calmed.
He's under such a heavy problem, his own life.
Feel pity for him.
Meanwhile I'd search for another job, if there was the possibility.

Ask you boss if he can speak to you in a calm manner, maybe he doesn't realize that he is screaming.

I would also start looking for another job, a bad boss can screw you up.

Ooooh that sucks, but it does happen. It happened to my friend's mom before, and she talked to the actual manager of the company who is wayyyy above her boss. Is there anyone above him you could talk to? Otherwise, tell him you're leaving if that's possible. But before that, you might wanna try talking to him, and tell him it's bothering you. Does he do that to you, and you only? If he does it to your colleagues too, that's better because a group of you could go and talk to him. It'll get him under control. Good luck! =]

To take it, or not to take it...That is the question. First of all your boss doesn't have the right to be verbally abusive to you. You have to stand up for yourself though. Document everything, and if he fires you, sue his @ss.

Scream back. You will likely get fired, but what the heck.
