How can I teach My pet rat to play with toys???

Just put them in the cage with him. This is always best when they are little. They will play. If you have him out of the cage, he can and will learn to chase a ball.

I'm not really sure if you can teach a rat to play. Mine was only mildly interested in toys. Try putting some cat toys in with it. But be careful. Chances are that he's going to try to eat what ever you put in. Ask at a pet shop what toys would be safe for him.

Rats would much rather play with you. I had mine trained to do little tricks using treats (yogurt drops - they're by the rat food at the pet shop) as rewards. Take them out of the cage and handle them. Let them sit on your shoulder and stick their noses in your ear. (We always said they were looking for brains.)
