I just want to check he's not visiting anything dodgy and i have no idea how to do this. Unfortunately i think he has figured out how to use 'internet options' and that's all i know how to use and i think he deletes everything. Is there any other way? Thanks in advance.xx

Thanks for your replies everyone!! I've actually put on parenal controls as the whole cookie thing wasn't helping. I'm also looking into getting a program which will let me see what he's been visiting. I don't want to be horrible, but some things on the net aren't for a 13 year old. Thanks again. xx

Just ask him and talk to him about Internet and so on. It is normal for a boy to visit some XXX. It is a life. Do not spy on him. It won't help in a long run.

Go to google.com and search for 'internet parental controls' There is a ton of software available to buy that lets you control and monitor internet access of your child. Some common features are what websites they visit, every key they hit on keyboard and in what order, time limit for the day, what websites to block, etc.. Hope this helps

smart kid. But when you delete websites visited on your internet options, its not deleted from your hard drive. you can check there or always go see what cookies you've recieved and from what sites. you could always set parental controls as well.

Make sure your account is an Administrators account, set a password and don't tell him what it is.
Then go to Start - Control Panel - User Accounts and make a new account, give it limited privileges.
Install NetNanny or some other parental control software, that will let you block certain websites or types of site, you set the permissions from your admin account and they can't be changed from the limited account.
If he sets a password for the limited account you can change it or delete the account and start again.

If you press the control button and "H" at the same time it will bring up a history for all of the websites that have been viewed recently. If he's pretty savvy he may delete them after he visits them.

You can put a parental control on the system. Some of them you can hide so he dosen't see it. You can then go back and view the files. A keystroke logger works well also but you have to figure out the words from a list. If you have concerns you may want to just install a parental control and block site types you dont want him going to.

if he is doing that then you will need soem kind of monitoring spyware taht you install taht he can not access. there are a multitude ofr programs out there, visit your local best buy and ask them.
internet options is how you check. if he is using yahoo or goggle to search you can still check his searches by typing in a letter in teh search field and it will bring up all the searches he has done recently, unless he has deleted those too

well at the top of internet explorer ther is a history button what shows you all the sites hes looked at but if he has been clearing that you could look at the cookies folder, the easiest way to find cookies is to use the search function on the start bar, search all files for cookies it will find a folder with lots of files in it if theres anything naughty in there you will be able to tell, happy snooping

Hi
Most of us who are grown up have the same worry. If he is anything like my kids you will never be able to check fully. Also he will find out you are checking on him and that will cause far more problems.
Don't check on him and dont make a fuss.It is better to come at this from another angle. Most teenagers love to think they know more than their parents play on this, ask him questions on how to use the Internet and computer. As he shows off what he knows he will open up as to what sites he visits. This is also a good way to help his self confidence as you will have the opportunity to praise him for how much he knows.
Also tell him you are worried about virus and other threats in that way you can get software like Norton with some parental controls. But as someone else said he is 13 and at that age its only natural to visit a few dodgy sites. Its far easier to control the sites he visits by showing an interest in his time on line rather than checking up afterwards.Guide him don't control him.You sound a great parent good luck
