He is still very young, but with experience he can become as good as Michael Bevan - the best One-day cricketer in the world. Bevan's consistent & sensible batting helped Australians win many matches & gave the OZs a belief that they could become the best batting side in the world.

Similarly, Bopara can stay in the lower middle order and rescue his side when they are in trouble from any situation. But it is still very early to speak of that, as he still needs experience and the right "grooming" to get anywhere near him - but he has the potential.

What do you say?

A bit early to start anointing him. Only been playing first class cricket for 5 years, and only has a handful of caps in ODI's.

It's only 2 years ago that the press were touting Michael Clarke as the next Bevan. A pretty good first season was marred by a sloppy and over confident second season. Teams figured Clarke out, he wasn't able to counter that and he struggled. He has been given another chance by the selectors (based on what I don't know) and he is on the way back.

Give Bopara some time without that kind of pressure and who knows? He certainly shows a lot of promise and England must be chuffed to have him.

While Ravi Bopara is undoubtedly a good player, one cannot compare him with Michael Beven based on one or two good performance. He has a long way to go with good performance if he has to reach anywhere near to Michael Bevan.

Bevan was one of the best ODI batters ever, it is impossible to compare him to a young player without any match experience and that hasnt proved himself.

Yes. He must continue to be calm, collective, cool, focus and level headed. He might even become better than Micheal Bevans

yes its possible but i think he should not be compared with a great player from the past because he can be carried away with that distiction
i know he is talented and can be a great be a good asset for our side and he should be developed as bopara himself
