why do we never hear about ADULT stem cell research?
I was doing research on stem cell research (ha) and theres all this stuff about how many things it has treated or cured. Why is no one talking about this thing that works? Why is everyone focusing on embryonic stem cells, which haven't even worked on lab rats yet?*

*There was a study on diabetic mice. some were treated with adult stem cells, others with embryonic. the adult cell mice gained full insulin production levels and lived, while the embryonic cell mice gained only 3% levels and all died.

If you talked about adult stem cell research, and all the possibilities, you would blow away the holy grail (embro stem cells) and weaken the fight for the Federal money President Bush has withheld.

Embryos are being used for stem cell research. This receives more attention because people are seeing couples who will have baby to get the embryos and then have an abortion, the kind where they kill the baby, even though it's ready to be brought into the world, but they do it before the baby comes out so it is still legal.

If it is really working, then adult stem cells needs to get more attention as possible.

It's one of those, don't look, don't tell, subjects. Borderline legal and a touchy subject our current leaders don't want to embrace. Is it the future? I think it has hope and should be explored further. I think it will be but I'll be "long gone dead" by that time. Good question!
