Reboot your computer and press F8(sometimes its F2 or Delete depending on the model)right when it boots back up.
Go into Safe Mode. When it loads up a window pops say a bunch of junk just press ok. FIRST, sometimes disk clean-up is slow so go to you Internet Explorer and right click it. Go to Properties. Delete your history, cookies, and your temporary files. After all of that is over, go to you start menu in the bottom left hand corner and go to programs, accessories, and system tools. Find Disk Clean-up! Run that!
After that's done go back to system tools and find Disk Defragmenter. Run that. Click Defragment.
The reason for running this in safe mode is to insure your are rearranging(defragmenting)ALL parts of the disk and not just some that would be running in normal windows. It only cleans the disk that is NOT running only, so its better to do it in safe mode. You can defrag. in normal windows, but like I said, it will only clean whats NOT running. In safe mode, it will cure everything because not all software is running! So just trust me!

go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools. There you can choose defrag or disk clean-up and others. Defrag every couple of weeks and disk clean-up less often. It helps your computer find files faster and run smoother.
