I found my Betta dead this morning with a kind of white film over him. he seemed fine yesterday, what could I have done wrong?

Bettas only live about 2-3 years, so maybe he was old. Also, some pet stores have older fish. I don't think the foam has anything to do with why he died, but just incase, check the website bellow for symtoms of diseses your betta could have gotten.

I really need more info- but it sounds like he got an infection- if the water was not cleaned regularly the ammonia can build up and cause the scales to be burned off- but it sounds like you overfed him and the food breaking down in the tank made a fungus grow on him and he could not breath--- the eyes and the stomach are about the same size- a fish will over eat but the food will simply pass out the gills and into the tank----

You probably didn't do anything wrong. To be honest it could have been old age, or some disease you couldn't tell he had. Usually when a fish dies you can't tell why unless you see a disease before it dies.

my fish did that too and in buying my next one they said it was unusual and to change the brand of water i was using for them. no tap water!

They die quickly when they get sick or old.

nothing, he just died of old age or something probably...
