Dont worry about where your coach places you. If he/she is a good coach ..... he/she will put you in a place where you can be successful and use the skills you already have. At 5-8 and a freshman... thats good size. If you grow more... even better.

You should focus on becoming a complete player. I played post as a freshmen in High School. And was starting point guard on Varsity as a senior. Those days in the post gave me a complete understanding of the game and as my skills increased I basically was able to play all 5 positions on the floor. So dont fret girl. Focus on learning all skills.

Here's a dribbling tip. Remember the name Pete Maravich. He was an player back in the 60's and 70's who revolutionized ball handling. He has a series of drills that I used growing up and they work. Search him up online and if you put the time in doing those drills... your ball skills will increase. I can promise that.

ummmmmmm i hope u meant that ur 5 8, buz im 5 6 and i play guard...anyway 4 dribbling u jus need 2 keep practricin, dribble the basketball so that it doesnt go past ur waist, bcuz thats where the ball will b most protected. Also dribble with ur head lookin up so that u dont run into ppl when ur dribblin it, practic crossovers and all that good stuff b4 u try 2 do all sorts of moves. if it was a typo and u meant 5 8 then im sure ur coach wont put u as a center, theres not a coach thats that s2pid. and thn also ask ur coach how u can improv ur dribblin 2, im sure ur coach will appreciate that u wnt 2 improv ur game and ur coach will help u out. i know it may seem lik this is the only advic ur gettin all day, but u need 2 practic!!!!!!!!!!!! thats y im my teams startin point guard...

for one thing if your 6'8 then you should be playing post but if your 5'8 then all you need to do is keep practicing. Dribble as much as you can and as often as you can and you will get better. You can also try going through some dribbling drills and make sure that you dont look down when you dribble, it develops into a bad habit that will get the ball stolen.

Practice for at least 1 hour every day doing drills like dribbling between cones and dribbling up to a taller player and shooting over them quickly.

How can you be shorter at 6'8 than the 6 '0 players? You must have typed it wrong and meant 5'8
ANyway, isnt it really up to your coach to tell you all these drills? and he will figure out where to place you. Ask him for advice.
