We need to remove the carbon for three daysso our fish medicine can heal our Siamese Fighting fish. It could very well be dead already but we are giving it a shot. yeah I just checked, its dead as a doorknob. But, i still need to know what the carbon will be on. If it is the spongey thing in the filter, can the spongy thing be blue?

The blue envelope looking thing has carbon flakes in it. Shake it and you can hear them. Also, if you rinse the blue thing before installing it, that's the carbon.

Get well fish.

The spongy thing is a fiber bag that is your mechanical filtration for the tank. It take s out the pieces of things in the water. Those are usually blue, white or a combination of blue and white. If you mash it you can feel small rocks inside the bag. That's the carbon. If you cut open a filter bag you will find small black things that look like rocks. That stuff is the actual carbon. Some bags are sold that can be opened at the top. They are usually a little more expensive, but worth it because you can dump out the carbon and replace it when ever you need to without replacing the whole bag.

The carbon will definatly eliminate some small quantities of hint aspects from the substrate yet on condition that that's going to become water born. in case you employ sand, or different cloth, over the Eco-complete you will almost thoroughly eliminate this challenge. this could preclude water from achieving the Eco-complete and alowing chemical leaching. in short confident that's going to eliminate it yet no longer by potential of a fairly good purchase because of the fact the substrate is dense adequate to hold in on the backside, no longer interior the water like fertilizers. i don't understand concerning to the polyester yet i could say merely upload it in somewhat at a time till you spot water bypass subjects. The greater you %. it interior the greater that's going to decelerate water bypass. i could individually replace the carbon with the polyester because of the fact the blue clear out holder will preclude strands of polyester from excaping. wish i helped! digital mail me in case you have from now on questions

It looks like black little pellets and flakes. The blue thing is just the filter pad that filter out any big pieces of matter such as leaves and other things. Hope this helps.

Carbon is black but it might be encased in something foamy and blue. If you shake it does it make noise as if there's small rocks or sand in there?
