You would be surprised! Some of 'em just decide to climb that mountain, and up they go, with no warning! As soon as the baby starts crawling or even scooting around seriously, I'd get a stair guard on the stairs. Better safe than sorry.

As soon as they start to "cruise" then most would be capable of getting up a couple of stairs.
My girls were around 8-9 months.

My daughter is 10 months old and walking, but she still hasn't done stairs. She treats ours as just another wall ... an immovable object that can't be trespassed. I hope she STAYS that way for a bit longer! :D

My kids were all about 9-10 months. They did it before they walked. Some kids don't start til after they walk though.

my grandson started crawling and crawling up the stairs and pulling at six months. then he started walking a 9 months

all babies are different but mine started doing it at 8 months. i didnt' even know she could . she just up and did it one day.
