Alright, so the summer is coming up and I am Milk White. I really want to get darker before I'm seen in a bathing suit. but, my mom is telling me horror stories about tanning in a bed. I only want to go in for one month... Is one month too long? Should I just use the spray on? *sighs* Help!

I don't do spray on--just because it's too orangey and streakish. I have been tanning for 10 years -the key is just don't over do it. You need to build a base tan and then just maintain it by going to the booth once a week. It's not healthy to tan every day so I would say just go maybe every other day until you have a color that you're happy with. Don't go in for too long your first time either (since you're milky white). There are so many different kinds of beds these days but for mine (www.hollywoodtans.com) the maximum I can go is 10 minutes. For your first time, I would suggest going 5 minutes. Then just go up from there if you don't burn.

The old tanning beds are dangerous; however, the tanning industry has seen a surge of interest in red light tanning beds as owners realize that it is a new revenue center that can help to alleviate the drop from the loss of UV tanners over the past two years. The key to a new red light therapy tanning bed is the research and design aimed at maximizing results in as little time as possible. They must use it on a consistent basis over a period of 3 months to see results. The recommended regiment is 3 visits per week for 12 weeks then 2 visits a week after that. The recommended exposure time is 15-20 minutes.

Well let's see people look down on women who bleach/lighten their skin right? The same thing it's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!! Come on let's have some common sense people!!! If you want to get a tan use a spray on tan why? because it's healthier for you. Those tanning beds have have certain kind of radiation. If you're exposed to it, you could develop skin cancer and other kinds of diseases.

If you go just a couple times it won't hurt...it's the people who go repeatedly for years and years that get skin cancer. Just one month for this summer won't hurt.
