I have an adorable five-year-old guinea pig named Cocoa; I was just wondering how often it is healthy to give them a good washing.

i have a guinea pig and took him to the vet.

i asked the vet how often should you bathe a guinea pig?
he said that since males have more oils natrually, you should bathe him once every 2 weeks.

i asked what about a female? the vet said................

since females tend to clean themselves more, the best is to bathe them once every month.

also if you want to know how to bath a guinea pig, you fill a sink up with warm water. then you slowly and carefully put water over the guinea pig. then with shampoo espeically made for pets or guinea pigs, make a lather onto his fur, then rub a little then rinse. just a little soap can poisan him because guinea pigs are very sensitive and gentle.

HOPE THIS HELPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't have to wash a guinea pig. They clean themselves.

You do, however, need to keep their cage clean. If you do so, they will not have an odor, they will not be dirty or wet, and they will not need to be bathed.

i have a rabbit and i never wash it. those animals don't naturally go in water to wash themselves. they have special glands that coat their fur to clean themselves. a few times i have, though, rinsed my bunnie's behind in warm tap water when it got a bit of pee on it... if those animals get wet, they can get too cold and that is not good for them. they can start shaking very badly... if you really insist on that, they do make some pet shampoo called bunnybath that is supposed to be gentle for small rodents. you can follow the instructions on the package.

I always heard it was not good to bathe them..They are like cats and they keep themselves very clean. So just keep his cage clean and let him to all the bathing himself!!

Unless they need it, never. Rodents, like cats, groom themselves. Unless she gets something on her fur that needs washing off, don't bathe her.

Only if they are really dirty, it strips away the oil when you bathe them which can cause dry skin.

roughly 2 - 3 times a year.not many more than this as it takes the oils out of their coat.
