If snoring is really loud and disruptive, chances are good that it is caused by a condition called sleep apnea, which MUST be taken seriously. Untreated sleep apnea not only stresses both the snorer and everyone else in the house who can't get a good night's sleep, it can also lead to heart malfunction and death! And, contrary to popular belief, many people have this condition who are NOT overweight.
Apnea is easily treated with the use of a night-breathing aid called a CPAP. You must see a sleep doctor before you can get one, as they have to be individually adjusted, but most insurance covers the cost. CPAP eliminates snoring 100% and keeps the heart from being damaged. Surgery is very rarely used to treat apnea, as the success rate is not that good.
Please ask your husband to get his doctor to refer him to a sleep doctor or sleep clinic ASAP. These facilities often have a long waiting list, and procrastinating can really damage his health. Do it right away. And enough with the pillows, bricks, etc - IT'S NOT HIS FAULT; IT'S A MEDICAL CONDITION, NOT A MORAL FAILING!

Your husband likely has sleep apnea...simple question: Does he stop breathing while sleeping?
His doctor can order a sleep study, which is an overnight study in a special lab at a hospital.
Afterwards, his doctor will review the results and likely order a regimen of medication, or use of a CPAP (a ventilator) or BiPAP, or possibly surgery.
Any of the doctor's choices will sole the problem.
Sleep Apnea can be caused by head injuries, obesity, or other causes.

Lolz.......
Um...I would try hanging him upside-down while he is sleeping,That should make him stop snoring.Because the sinus rushes into another part of the body leaving his nose feeling better and yet stopping him from snoring....That might be too painful!
You could also try making him sleep in a different postion...( I suggest the side).
You could also put a type of fish down into his nose (I don't know if this would actually work but scientist in a different country say that a type of fish when put in someone's nose would stop snoring but, we haven't confirmed that yet.)

If he's overweight, he should consider losing some body mass as it is probably constricting his breathing. There are a variety of other possible problems. He might try vigorous exercise some hours before bed, eating a handful of almonds, sleepingin a different position, wearing an adhesive patch to bed to open his sinuses, or taking a prescription sleep-aid.
Or you could get some earplugs.

make him lean his head back or sleep on his side. That will always stop him from snoring. it's virtually impossible to snore while sleeping on your side.

lol my dad snores all the time. sleeping on your side helps. he could have sleep apnea too or it could be something else wrong with him, not to alarm you. sometimes snoring is not as funny and innocent as it seems.
