Day 1: heat your tank to 83 degrees
add 1 teaspoon of non iodized salt per gallon in the morning
add 1 teaspoon salt per gallon in the evening
Day 2: repeat 1 teaspoon salt per gallon morning and evening.
When its time for a water change, replace water with 4 teaspoons per gallon water.
Leave fish in salt bath for 2 weeks. After the 3rd or 4th day ick will be disappearing.
After 2 weeks change water and replace with fresh water until salt is removed.
Lower the temp 2 degrees per day until the temp gets to 77 and keep it there from now on.
If you use meds like quick cure you are risking killing your filter. A 3 day treatment will only kill free swimming ick, there is a big chance it will return within a week or so, but next time your filter will be dead and the tank will be recycling, adding to the problem. Over medicating with QC can kill your fish too. Salt is very effective for ick and does not harm the filter or stress the fish.
If you have catfish or scaleless fish salt can be a problem for them so cut the dose in half. Plants will also not tolerate the salt, they will have to be housed elsewhere. A hospital tank is not needed you will have to treat the entire home tank to get rid of it.
Anytime fish get ill I opt for heat and salt first. Second I like to use a good antibiotic food, only as a last resort I would ever put chemicals into the tank. Meds can really get the system messed up, even if the label says it won't destroy the biological system, don't believe it.

Fish medications is probably the easiest way. This may sound odd but, if you stick a fresh water fish in some saltwater for a short while it will often help take the ich away. The same is for Saltwater fish just the other way around. ( If you need to get saltwater you don't make it from table salt you can usually buy it from a local aquarium fish store.)

I used to, they was so non violent. however the extra moderen aquariums, in spite of if purportedly extra appropriate for the fish, are in basic terms too busy. And there are too many youngsters rampaging (actually) around--mom and dad seem to hold their youngsters there and in basic terms set them loose and the toddlers circulate working and screaming around--if I have been a verify i could be extra careful because of the fact pedophiles could desire to truly haul a newborn away and it may be a on an identical time as earlier the verify figured their youngster strengthen into lacking. I stay in a honest length city and the final time i strengthen into on the city aquarium, people have been leaving their baggage and handbags on those benches, unattended, and wandering off to look on the different tanks! Plus the front value for the aquarium is something like $35 now--too wealthy for me to do.

you can get some chemical from walmart or any pet store. I am not sure, but I think my husband mentioned that the chemical isn't going to make the ich go away, it just coats the fish so they don't show the ich. Once you stop using it, it comes back. I think to really get rid of it, you are going to have to do a complete change out of your water, boil your rocks and other decorations and clean your tank with a scrubber. Don't use soap!

You can't just say that it has ich. It might have something else and when you give it meds you kill it from unnescesary treatment. But if you're sure you can find medicine at any local petshop. Or you can ask the employee and he or she will show you the available choices. By the way, ich can never be fully erradicated. It will always be in your tank.

There are a number of options - some will depend on the specis of fish, since some are sensitive to salt, high temps, and meds.

First, be sure of your diagnosis. See this website for photos of ich and other parasite infections: http://www.fishdeals.com/fish_diseases/stressdisease.shtml

See these sites for treatment options (the first includes fresh and saltwater ich parasites, the second FW only): http://www.americanaquariumproducts.com/Aquarium_Ich.html
