I would recommend "In My Life" as an ideal Beatles songs to slow dance to. The lyrics relate to how special someone is to
the singer.

There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never ever lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

I really like Eleanor Rigby but I'm not so sure you would classify it as a slow song. Also, a song that talks about lonliness and a funeral may not be best for a slow dance at a prom.

One not mentioned here is If I Fell. Excellent slow song and one of my favorite Beatles songs ever.

Have you tried the accoustic version of 'here comes the sun' from George Harrison's concert for Bangladesh. It's not too short very sweet and not at all very happy. You can't go wrong when the two guitars are played by George and Eric Clapton!

Most Beatles songs are short. But I know the one I would pick for such an occasion: While My Guitar Gently Weeps. (Clapton did the solo on that one)
