If Oakland does not get him after the Lions trade McNown to Oakland (ESPN repoerts - John Clayton) I would say NO...

Too many WR's failed as first round picks... Rogers and Mike Williams sad to say... they will trade down... The Lions are in the most interesting position of draft day...

Millen did a rare great move getting R. Williams and K Jones by trading down with Cleveland... expect a great move on draft day that will raise eyebrows in the league... I will be watching... I expect a huge move that we will all gasp!

GO LIONS... Millen don't screw this one up... we need to get the Lions on the map!

With matt Millen doing the picking it has to be considered a possibility. I dont think it is likely, best guess is they deal down to the 4ht pick (trade with TB) and go with defense. If they want to help the coach they need to pick defense and Gaines Adams is exactly the type of lineman he favors and TB craves the possibility of adding a great receiver like Johnson to their team. I cant see the Lions not trading down....forget all the talk of Joe Thomas, they have Backus at one tackle (paying huge money, not worth his deal) and they traded Bly and got Foster to play the other tackle spot (and Foster is being paid 1st round money as well, cant see 3 tackles making 1st round or better money). Marinelli wants to build the team through defense so trading out of the second pick makes the most sense.

NOOOOO they dont need him at all. they all ready have williams (went to the pro bowl), furrey (98 catches) and mcdonald(pretty good). They truly and entirely need joe thomas, the OT from wisconsin. The lions o-line was terible, they gave uo 54 sacks wich was the 2nd worste in the nfl (1st raiders) If they do pick calvin johnson, it will just be another major f*ck up for matt millen.

With Millen as the GM of course people think they will be stupid enough to. Nothing against Johnson either, just stupid to pick a WR with your top pick for a fourth year in a row. Actually though I don't think they will pick Johnson. I think they would pick some other WR first, just to truly look like idiots.

Absolutely not. Don't forget that Mike Martz is the Offensive coordinator (and the highest paid one at that) whom understands that he does need a young QB to be bred into his offense, though Kitna put up some decent numbers last year.

Bet on Quinn to Det at #2. Calvin Johnson (though the best player in this draft) cannot do anything without a solid QB to get him the ball. Martz understands that (and his offense is predicated on smaller, speedier wideouts...which they have) and Det pulled relentlessly to get him to coordinate their offense last year. Believe he is looking at a QB.

Quinn at #2.

If otherwise, Adrian Peterson and then a QB in later rounds round (ie - Trent Edwards)

I think they should pick him he is pure talent. I know that they have picked WRs in the the last couple drafts but Calvin is too good to pass up. He is like a faster T.O with better hands without the attitude!!!

No because in my opinion they've wasted too many first round picks on WR's that don't work. Personally I am a Chicago Bears fan, by the way!

Well you would have to see that as a posiblity, but if you think about it everyone is saying, "oh dont let a good player like that, get into the lion curse" but still, the lions arnt that great at WR...STILL sure they have roy williams but they need someone else.

they wont, and they will regret it. if they pick Calvin Johnson, the initial reaction will immediately be against Matt Millen, and he will wussy out form taking him. I project him at tampa bay next year, considering i feel Brady Quinn will be third pick.

I don't think they can waste another pick on a wide out. They need protection for there quarterback to get the ball to anyone!
