Eastern Sports Programing Network but of late they've referred to themselves as Everything Sports Programming Network.

It stands for Entertainment Sports Network! They only used the E SP N. The first show was 9/7/1979. If you want to know more go to the ESPN website and look under media kit. They will give you more information.
