So yes.. heavy storm (or any card that can destroy traps) will destroy it.

Anything that negates traps (like Jinzo) would just make it an useless continuous trap card sitting in the M/T field... and even when whatever was negating traps is gone.. it would still be dead weight.. there's no way to get the monster back if the trap is negated at any point (except for sending the card back to your hand somehow or flipping it back face down somehow)...

Did your friend try telling you since it wasnt in a trap zone, it wouldnt die? heavy storm definitely kills it, there is no debate! ALL trap cards, creature or not, die from Heavy Storm!!
