I had a criminal record since the age of 13, recently I applied at pet's store. I did state it in my application and I know if I don't; i will be disqualified for the job. I'm still worried about my status, do you think a youth offence will affect me?

Personally...if it was a minor conviction...AND it was when you were a minor...

I would not have stated it in the first place.

Kudos to you for being honest...But the chances of a pet store running a background check are pretty slim...you may be stirring up old trouble for nothing.

Good luck in any case. :)

Get a No Cost Background Check Scan at https://bitly.im/aNIvT

Its a sensible way to start. The site allows you to do a no cost scan simply to find out if any sort of data is in existence. A smaller analysis is done without cost. To get a detailed report its a modest payment.

You may not realize how many good reasons there are to try and find out more about the people around you. After all, whether you're talking about new friends, employees, doctors, caretakers for elderly family members, or even significant others, you, as a citizen, have a right to know whether the people you surround yourself with are who they say they are. This goes double in any situation that involves your children, which not only includes teachers and babysitters, but also scout masters, little league coaches and others. Bottom line, if you want to find out more about someone, you should perform a background check.

I doubt it. Mostly they just look for felonys. How old are you now? My husband is a 2 time convicted felon for federal theft and embezzelment due to a past drug habit. He is now a stand up guy and is clean. When they were newer charges, he would usually lie but backthen they didn't check too much. In the U.S. when you turn 17 everything you did as a minor is supposed to be erased by law. I wouldn't talk about it at all. 13 Year olds are usually not charged with felonies and if you were not I would not tell anyone. I do a lot of hiring and we do criminal background checks, but only for felonys that are under 7 years old.

1. You don't have to state juvenile offenses.

Can the employer disqualify you for it? Absolutely. But the employer may decide to ignore the offense and hire you anyway.

If your record is "Sealed" or "Expounged", it can still be viewed. The government has access to everything dated back to childhood. Speaking from experience, at 23 , it still affects me. The best thing to do is hire an attorney permantely remove it fro your record or ask for a pardon from your governer.

As a rule Juvenile records are sealed once you reach 18....for a reason. Kids make mistakes.

If you are over 18, don't mention it again. Unless you were charged as an adult.

I didn't think a juvenile offense was something you had to disclose if you were over 18. I'm assuming that you are atleast 18 years old.
