Well... if you know there is *NO* heart beat then you should be at the hospital. Most pregnancies actually end in miscarriage and women don't even know it, they just think their period is heavier than normal.

I know what you are going through. I just lost my first pregnancy in January. My ultrasound they did at 13 weeks, showed nothing, and they dated the pregnancy as ending at 6 weeks. I was told by 7-8 weeks they should at least see the movement of the heart and hear it. I was told after my firt ultrasound to wait a week and go back. That was the Longest week I ever had to go through I think. They told me though that they could have been off on when i got pregnant, and so that is definatly true for you as well. I would say wait until the doctor is in, and go for another ultrasound, but schedule about a week or longer after the first one, so you can get a good reading. They can tell you based on the meausrements taht the tech did, how far along she is.
Good Luck...

I'm sorry, but it doesn't sound good. You should see a heartbeat with the baby at this age, but then again, where did you get the ultrasound done? You'll want to talk to the doctor about it on Monday. My baby had a heartbeat on the ultrasound at 6 1/2 weeks, so I'm thinking yours should have had. I'm no expert, so you will want to call the doc Monday. Be supportive of your wife now, she definitely needs you. Take care.

Don't worry too much yet. Sometimes you don't see the heartbeat at 8 weeks. It doesn't hurt to have hope! I was told it was fairly common not to see or hear the heartbeat at 8 weeks. The tech might not be the best, or the machine could be old. You never know. It can be so scary, but it doesn't necessarily mean there is a problem. Good luck at the doctor's. Hope all is well.

At my 9 week ultrasound, there was no visible heart beating on the screen. They heard it, but only by doing the internal wand thing, could not hear it with any other method they would normally use to hear fetal heart tones. Maybe see if they will do the internal scope ultrasound thing for your wife at the ER and see if they detect the heartbeat that way?

hey there.
i am going to tell you what i think. i have had alot of bullshit scans. i had a scan with my second daughter tha showed that my daughter had a thickning on her neck. i listened to this result and had a amnio causing a infection and the early labour of my 20 week baby girl.
following that i had a scan with baby 3 at 5wk1day they told me i had a abnormal genistation sack, no yolk sack or fetal pole seen, no heartbeat, a non viable pregnancy, they sent me to my doctor and they wanted me to have a d&c. but i said no and awaited avents. im glad i did as this baby is still growing, is very active and is defently there.
scans are there to look for faults thats what they do to look for problems 1 in 3 ultrasounds detects a problem worrieing the mother 2 death. the worrie and stress can bring on miscarrage. tell ya wife to relax and just talk to baby and love baby and spend time loving that she is pregnant. let that baby know he/ she is loved and let it thrive.
i know that i will never have anothe ultra sound ever unless medicaly nessasary. and i havent and my babys still gwowing big and strong.
i wish yous all the luck in the world and congratz on your beautiful baby.

you sound like an incredible husband! let your wife know that lots of people will be thinking of you 3 and praying for you. it is quite possible the tech was unable to pick up the heart beat because of position. i wouldn't panic yet. there is always the possibility that your dates are a little off, and that the scan was done a little early to detect it. give your wife lots of hugs, and reassure her that you love her very much. good luck

Wow kinda appears like me yet besides she desires to stay constructive the pressure will in problem-free words make it worse id say as long as there a heartbeat and the HCG ranges are nonetheless increasing you may want to be ok yet when and on condition that the cramps visit pot and the blood is vivid purple you opt to pass to the ER

I'm confused. 8 weeks with no heartbeat isn't good! The doctor should have told you something. Call the emergency room....however I'm still confused.
