We need to return to the pragmatic approach that Ronald Reagan exemplified. While in office he was opposed at almost all turns by a Dem controled House and Senate, yet he got more action accomplished than any President since. He exemplified values and old world common sense.

If we are to strengthen the party we need to also re-establish the platform of smaller government and lower taxes and actually complete these activities while in power instead of simply being a more effective Democrat and creating yet bigger government than the Dem's could.

While we need to be pro-business, we need to concentrate on what business needs even more than tax levels that allow for growth, but the other thing that grows a business...an educated work force. We must be the party of Education and social advancement...these are not liberal issues...they are Republican issues as we are the party for economic growth and that will only be realized through education.

While we MUST be the party of family values, those values must be taken to the street if you will...and while many of we Christians are going abroad to do mission work...we need to step outside of the Churchs and begin to do mission work in our own communities with those who are poor, drug addicted and uneducated and help them.

I am a Republican because I want less government control on our lives and lower taxes. I am a Republican because it is the party more family value oriented and Christian oriented.

However, while I am a Republican I want to work with my Democratic friends and find common ground. I want to imporve my party and make it more outgoing instead of us sitting around patting one another on the back telling ourselves we are right.

Best Regards.

Throughout history, the parties have always changed. In the Civil War , Democrats
called blacks one fifth human and fought to keep them in chattel slavery. Just 40 years ago, Democrats were the racist that didn't want blacks to vote or inter-grate with the rest of society. And was supported by the KKK. Thanks to the Mississippi Black Democrats that has mostly changed.
Family values, however, has only in recent history, attributed to only the Republicans.
Political parties change but society has to change first.

Stick to conservative issues. They will win out in the long run. George Bush got away from Conservatism. This has hurt him, and to some extent the Party. Look for a strong Conservative to make a charge and give Hillary a run for her money.

On the local level, work for candidates you think come closest to your ideals. Register voters. Behave yourself. Set a good example.

Don't be afraid to embrace traditional values. Even though the elite may tell republicans that such values are old fasioned and "extreme" and they will lose moderates... time and time again, the polls show that the country is conservative on the issues such as gay marriage and abortion.

Stick to conservative policies and economics... becoming more liberal just makes liberalism seem more attractive. Explain and support conservative values...
