if ur learning automotive all the books and the lecture will sezs that V6 configuration engine is better.. but when it come to the real world the inline straight 6 with twin-turbo's is sure much-much better.. seriously

I'd get a V6 rather than an inline-6 the V6 is cheaper to build and takes less space (under the hood ofcourse) :D

A V6 is always better because the crankshaft is shorter and will not flex and cause bearing or breakage problems if it's going to be raced or high performance parts are added.
The V6 has shorter more well designed intake manifold runners. Fuel and air flows into the intake ports much straighter than an in-line six. Higher usable RPM's can be attained because most V6 engines have a much shorter stroke and larger bores found in in-line six motors. Camshafts are shorter and fewer cam bearings can easily carry the load this applies to the crankshaft also. Good in-line six motors have seven main bearings while a V6 gets along with four main bearings. There's less mechanical drag in a V6 as two connecting rods throw one rod journal. The Crankshaft is lighter and stronger. Internal vibrations are canceled out by the addition of a weighted counter shaft. as well as the counter weighted crankshaft.
In-line 6 motors do not like high RPM's as harmonics eventually can cause major damage. These motors claim to fame is a ton of low RPM torque do to the long crankshaft throws. A good race prepped in-line 6 is a good stop lite street fighter an you get torque and horsepower "NOW" as soon as you dump the clutch. The V6 will catch it and eventually zing by because of it's higher RPM capability.

Inline 6 is better in terms of power. The problem is that they are rare. If you encounter problems the repairs would be more expensive and it would be more dificult to find parts say at the junk yard. I would go with the v6 for the longrun and then find ways to make it more powerfull.

an inline 6 is better for trucks and high performance just because of higher torque but you might have better throttle response and better gas mileage with a V6

Inline six, Most of them can crank out more torque than any other engine, and they last forever if you take care of them.I have a 95 F150 that I bought brand new in 95' that now has well over 350,000 miles on it, I've never had any major problems with the engine it's self.

In-line six is the most balanced engine configuration. The reason they moved to V-shape was to lower the hood line.
