Okay so I know this is a forum for questions on pregnancy, but why do woman or I should say teenagers ask "How many weeks am I" when they should be asking the doctor that. I admit I ask questions on here but I ask when they felt their baby move, or their experiences because I'm curious. You should know how many weeks you are in the first place because if you missed your period it's obviously 4 weeks. A MONTH hello. I just think taht question is asked so much and when I comment go to the doctor. I get negative comments and a thumbs down. I wasn't even being rude unlike some people. I know I have people that disagree with me, but who agrees or disagrees??? Inputs??

Well why don't you look it up online and not be lazy and have others look it up. I'm 18....a teenager and I know alot about my baby and my body. It makes me sad to know that people don't know much about their body. Of course pregnancy is 10 months. 4 weeks is 1 month, so math would help. 40/4 = 10. People should know this stuff whether or not it's confusing. I figured it out easily.

I know I'm being judgemental, and I know I can ignore those posts. It just makes me so sad to see how uneducated woman are these days that's why men think they are smart than us, maybe they are getting to be. I hardely click on those posts but to see the question asked every hour is just truely frustrating.

I disagree. I'm not a teenager, but I am pregnant. I still get confused with what week, month, etc I am in my pregnancy. It's confusing because pregnancy is not just 9 months long, it is more like 10, and so the weeks may not make sense to someone.
Also, when you answer "go see your doctor"...people don't want to hear that. They want to hear of other people in similar situations, who have valid things to say on the matter.
To your additional details: Of course people could just look it up online...that's what they are doing when they ask the question....after all this is a question and answer board.

People get confused because the gestational age and the weeks since they conceived are different. For instance, if someone had sex 2 weeks ago but they just missed their period and their doctor tells them that they're 4 weeks along, then that's bound to make a lot of people ask, "How many weeks am I?" They tack on two extra weeks because they go by the date of the last period.
Like I said though, people get confused because they assume that the weeks they should be counting are from the date they had sex, when it's really two weeks before that.

I completely agree. I think the pregnancy portion of the pregnancy & parenting category is entirely misused. The number of "could I be pregnant", "how many weeks am I" and "what could be wrong" questions that are posted is truly frightening. These women seriously need to be asking these questions of medical professionals, not a bunch of average citizens like us. I get very frustrated when I see someone ask something like, "My doctor said blah blah blah. What does that mean?" Why on earth don't they simply ask the doctor what that means?
And to think these foolish people are going to be teaching the next generation. Scary!

Because people are STUPID, especially kids!!!! I love the question, "Am I Pregnant?" I see that a lot. I have a simple answer for you....TAKE A PREGNANCY TEST...what are we psychic? If there are questions people ask that aren't detrimental to their health or they don't have immediate access to a doctor I can understand..like from one pregnant mom to the next. There are also questions that can easily be googled where the answer might be found on WebMD or such similar site...but people only want to hear what they want to hear.
My favorite question most recently came from a 16 y.o boy that said he "accidentally" had sex with a girl who had "lost her baby" and wanted to know if he could catch that from her. My thought was OMG...what are these kids' parents teaching them? Are they going to school or what? Anyway..props to you for posting your comment so we can all vent about the total idiots that ask questions on here. But hey...if it wasn't for them, I might not have as much entertainment while I am stuck at home on bed rest!

I agree 110%!!! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that 4 weeks equals 1 month.

They ask to get advice from someone who has been through it. And possibly because they don't know where to go for advice. But anyway, it;s not rude or a bad answer to tell someone to go to the doctor - it is actually the best place to go to get those answers.

I agree. It is easier for them to just post on here and see what everyone who responds is saying than to look it up themselves or get out their calculators. We are aiding the laziness of some people! LOL!

I agree. And I hate the "Could I be pregnant" questions. How the heck are we supposed to know if someone's pregnant?! These questions are usually from people who know nothing about ovulation, ejaculation, and basic anatomy!
