You need to check the ingredients on the Vapor Rub before you use it. The adult formulation contains Camphor, which can be toxic to babies. They make a baby vapor rub that does not contain camphor as an active ingredient. But yes, it should help with the congestion.

I would not use vick's on him. Johnson's sells an excellent line of products. There is Johnson's Vapor Bath, and Johnson's Vapor Rub. These are excellent and help a lot with stuffiness, sore throats, and coughing. They are made for babies. Wal-Mart has their own brand of these, and most pharmacies do as well. It is basically the same thing as vick's just made for babies.

I had never heard of that, but they have vicks vapor rub for babies and children, My pediatrician told me I could use it on my son when he was only a few months old. Also they have the vopor mist that you can put the vicks for humidifiers in his humidifier. I just cut the recomended dose in half if it is in his room. Also they now have a vicks plug in that releases vicks vapor. I have not had to use that one yet, but with his next cold I thought I would give it a try. Good luck

I love the Vicks products. They have a wonderful bath for baby too. When my son was little, I'd put some on the bottom of his feet and I did get the liquid vicks for the humidifier. It worked well and I still use Vicks to this day. PS, if you have a 6 year old son, do not leave the Vicks anywhere they can get it. It makes great wall pictures.

If the baby is over three months, you can dab some of the ointment on his chest or under the chin. There is also a vapor syrup that can be put in the little bowl on the actual machine. So when it steams it catches the vapors and goes all into the room. Make sure to use a nose sucker, especially at night when baby is most congested.

I have a little baby girl and she was stuffy just last week. I put Vick's vapor rub on the bottom of her feet with socks when she laid down for the night and just that was enough to clear it up. If your baby is just a wee little one and isn't prone to pulling the towel towards her, I'd say that it might work well.
I believe they also have drops to go into humidifiers.. that my's next buy!
Good luck!

Vicks contains camphor which is toxic, so keep out of the reach of a baby. Also it should not be applied to a baby's skin (baby vicks doesn't contain camphor).
Personally I think using peppermint essential oil is safer.
