YES!! If my husband shaves he looks very much like his mother! I won't let him shave.

Bearded men in our world may want to be the more natural version of men, and not because they have no access to a razor.
Some bearded men may have some psychological problems therefore they have grown their beard. Or it may be something like the fancy vanity motives that make young girls get pierced more than just their ears.
Other men may use their large beard as at sign of some identity, for instance religious or racial or both, something more than just being macho.
A well-grown beard may require more care, more hygiene, than just a quick over-all shaving. Sometimes a large beard may sort of stink, just as some male wild animals often stink, even quite a lot.

Men naturally grow beards, surely it's the ones who shave, who have something to hide. Everytime you shave, you are actually doing something to hide your natural beard.
Personally, I prefer men with a clean shave, but with some men a beard looks good.
I know it is often assumed that a beard hides something, but the men who shave are clearly the ones hiding something.

I LOVE a beard. It has to be clean, but it is the most visible, absolutely male sign of masculine hormones! It is equal in visual sexual signaling to exhibiting their package. Women have their mamary glands - very visual signals. Men have beards. I don't understand why women don't appreciate these displays more. I certainly do!

Here's a memorable limerick from Edward Lear:
There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, "It is just as I feared!--
Two Owls and a Hen,
Four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!

I enjoy my beard. I actually have to shave more carefully. I usually have to shave it off about a month after I get it exactly as I want. My wife and daughter have a subtle campaign they mount to get it shaved. . . Like, Dad, there's a white hair in the soup, again. Like, Terry, when I put my head on your shoulder, you turn your head and stick that beard in my eye.

Well, no offense Batty, but I think that beards are the most disgusting things in the world. Well, maybe second to seeing a dog get hit by a Hummer. And I dont think there sexy either, the world would be a better place beardless.

In my experience, the only men who worry about OTHER men's beards are the ones that can't grow one for themselves.
I like beards as long as they're kept neat - they're the ultimate publicly-visible evidence of masculinity.

A resemblance to other family members. My husband is not allowed to shave his beard off because otherwise he looks like his father and his brother. Both of whom I loathe.

Well, you just have to look at St. Nick (father christmas) the patron saint of theives and murderers.... I'd say that's a major down point that he's hiding from his child followers.
(he's also patron saint of judges but that's not the point!)
