I think the common misconception with latinos is that they are lazy, that they are criminal free loaders, & that all are illegal. I believe the American people find it highly disrespectful that they dont speak english, that they dont assimilate quick enough & that they protest in the country they came into "illegally" when someone mentions immigration reforms. I imagine most Americans see the latinos as less than citizens because more often than not they do the manual labor jobs that most Americans wont do. Most of the time Americans buy into the stereotypes and myths about other cultures because if we didnt then we would have to give up a bit of our power to give all people rights & liberties and we're not willing to do that.

I think, why do they call themselves latin when it is Italian but they refuse to be called Italian, but Spanish, but will say they are Latin. Then they don't even speak or write Latin nor do they live in the Vatican City to be called Latin. That's what I think.
