I've slept with women from all those countries?

The U.S. and China are fighting over the oil, Russia owns the distribution and Saudi Arabia pumps the stuff like it's water.

I once disrespected - on this very sight - all members of OPEC. I was very tired that night and regret the question.

The fact is, I see stunning breakthroughs, and soon, in the research to find cheaper sources of energy - that don't pollute.

What I can't figure out, beyond all the propaganda is: what REALLY is slowing the transition. Seems like we'd all (well, all but Saudi Arabia) want fuel that could be grown anywhere (particularly in deserts), be cheaper than pumping oil and actually remove carbon from the atmosphere.

Russia could still use their pipelines - so they should be in. The U.S and China would no longer need to watch the geo-political radar screen every day of their lives - which means they'd both be in. So it's 3 against 1.

How much power do the Saudi's actually have over the other three? For that matter, over every energy-dependent nation on earth? They're not the only oil-producer. And the producers, taken together, don't outnumber the rest of us.

I can only assume it's the approach they adopted to the most recent IPCC report in that all these countries were applying pressure so that the wording would be toned down to make global warming seem less of a threat and less certain. India was the other country pressing these points.
