I am not sure if I understand completely, but try this. click Start, Control panel, Display and then choose Settings. on the left is a slide that changes your pixels to 800x600 to 1024x768. if it is on 800x600 move to 1024x724 and click or apply. it will change and it will give you 15 seconds to either save the change or cancel. Or you can follow the steps again to change it back if this is not it.

I'd recommend trying 2 things. First right click on your desktop wallpaper and go to properties to open the display properties dialog box. Then click the 'Settings' tab in the top left corner. Move the resolution slider up and hit apply, repeat until you get the best results. Monitors are often made for specific screen resolutions and can look blurry on the wrong setting. Alternatively you can try switching the font your computer uses for things like icon text to something else. To do this right click your desktop wallpaper again and go to properties. Then go under the 'Appearance' tab, once in the appearance window go to the 'advanced' tab. In the 'advanced' window choose “Item:” from the drop down list and choose “Icon” and you can choose desired Icon font size and Type. Hope this helps you!

You can try to update the display driver:
Click on Start
Open Control Panel
Open Display
Click on Settings tab
Click on Advanced
Click on Adapter
Click on Properties
Click on Driver and Update driver
Try to install automatically

Then you can try to adjust the resolution by:
Opening the Display and adjust the Screen Resolution
Click on Apply

If you have a flat panel type display it will only look good at it's native resolution.
