If you're concerned about being tracked, use a proxy. It's relatively easy to set up with firefox or internet explorer.

There are plenty of available web cgi proxies. Just google for them.

If you REALLY don't want to be caught, use TOR routing.

In the long run yes. But it all depends on how you are browsing the internet. In any event it would take time to do. If they had a sting setup and were actively monitoring some site they could have you traced really quickly though.

To do it they would have to talk to the company hosting the website and get your IP (internet protocol) address and trace it back to the company that "owns" that IP address. All IP address are assigned to various companies which allows for tracking and control of them.

Once they find out who manages that IP address they talk to that company, usually your ISP (internet service provider) and they tell the police, after a warrant has been provided, who you are and where you live.

Yes. Pretty much all websites keep logs of ips that access them. ips can be tracked back to an ISP. From there they can be traced to the originator of the request.

If you watch TV it shows that someone with the knowledge can obtain just about anything in reference to your computer usage....Personally, I believe those people do exist.....
